February 2014 - meeting notes

Hubbert Farms
Last night was a great night, featuring Hubbert Farms. Jody brought some lovely fleece and handspun for sale, and some great photos of their farm. Although she didn't do a formal presentation, I'm sure everyone got to discuss with Jody some of the fascinating aspects of helping to run an alpaca and sheep farm. We all look forward to the opportunity to visit the farm in April!

Pass-It-On Project
Last month, Mary Charles began the "Pass-It-On Project" creating this piece, with sections of both crochet and knitting:
Monica was the first to volunteer to add to it, during the month of February, and she added a knitted section and a few balls of yarn to the bag.

Next on the list is Mark, and we wait with baited breath to see what he adds to this unique free-form piece!

The Knitting Kninjas

Aisling and Siobhan brought to our attention a great local blog that they've discovered. The Knitting Kninjas are a group of local knitters (adults and kids) who are on a mission...to bring cheer to the world, one yarn bomb at a time. They've got a great blog going, with disguised photos of all their Krew Members, and updates about their plans. According to their site, they would happily welcome new members, interested in yarn bombing the Peterborough area!

The Peterborough Fibre Arts Festival
Monica reminded us about the upcoming Fourth Annual Peterborough Fibre Arts Festival.
